We at Knight Funding place paramount importance on customer service and aim to meet your expectations on every occasion. To achieve this aim we need accurate personal information about you and the clients that you introduce. We have a legal obligation under Data Protection Act of 1998 to ensure that all information held and processed complies with the principles of the Act. The Act requires all personal information to be treated under the strictest confidence and to be used only for purposes of which you and your client are aware.
 

Confidentiality

We will treat all applicant personal data as private and confidential. Nothing about a clients contact details will be disclosed to anyone, other than in four exceptional cases permitted by law. These are:

  • where we are legally required to do so. For example, to comply with money laundering regulations, and to help stop criminals using financial products or services to launder money. Some acts of parliament oblige us to disclose information about our customers to certain bodies with statutory powers
  • where there is a duty to the public to disclose
  • where disclosure is required to protect our interest (This will not be used as a reason for disclosing information about you for marketing purposes.)
  • where disclosure is made at your request or with your consent. (This can be either as a result of an application for a product or service or by signing an explicit declaration as part of the application. Consent does not need to be in writing if the service is provided over the telephone.)

From time to time we will employ agents and sub-contactors to process your information on our behalf. The same duty of confidentiality and security will apply to our agents and sub-contractors and all processing will only be carried out under our instruction and will be supported by written contract.

All our employees are personally responsible for maintaining customer confidentiality. We provide training and education to all our staff to remind them about their obligations. Our policies and procedures are regularly audited and reviewed.
 

Use of Email

Should you decide to send us e-mail, you should remember that messages sent over the Internet are not secure and you should therefore think very carefully before including any information of a confidential nature. For our part, we will respect the confidentiality of your information and will limit the Content of any e-mail we create to reflect the security limitations that currently exist within the Internet environment. Should you therefore require us to respond, it is essential that you provide your full name and address to enable us to provide a written response.
 

Your Clients Rights and Privacy

Under the Data Protection Act your clients have the right to access the information we hold about them on our records. The act allows us to charge a ?10.00 fee for this service. If anything is inaccurate or incorrect, please let us know and we will correct it immediately.
 

If your clients do not want to receive unsolicited mail from other companies, you can prevent this by registering with the Mail Preference Service. In addition the Telephone and Fax Preference Services enable them to object to receiving unsolicited marketing phone calls or faxes from other companies. Credit referencing

If your client applies for a credit based product (e.g. mortgage or secured loan), we will perform a search with a credit reference agency. The agency will keep a record of the search. When applying for a mortgage we may search public records, such as the Electoral Roll, that are available from credit reference agencies to help us verify the applicant's identity.
 

Associations linking the applicants' financial records may be created on credit reference agency records when they apply for a mortgage in joint names. The financial records, and those of anyone financially associated with the applicant, may be considered in any future applications they make.

Your clients have the right to apply to the credit reference agencies for a copy of their credit file. If there is anything incorrect on your file, you have the right to ask the agency to add a notice of correction.

If your applicants have been refused credit they can get advice from your local Trading Standards department, Citizens Advice Bureau or Consumer Advice Centre, or through the agencies` websites. The Information Commissioner also produces a useful leaflet entitled No Credit? Use of Data - Providing the service for which your client has applied

Your client's details will be used in providing the service they applied for and for the ongoing administration of the service. If they are taking out insurance, your details will be passed to the insurers for this purpose. If they make a claim, any information they provide to the insurers may be put on a register of claims through which insurers share such information to prevent fraudulent claims. A list of the participants and the address of the operator are available from the insurers.
 

Use of Data - Keeping You Informed

There may be times when we feel that a service or product offered by us or a selected third party may benefit you or your clients. We may use information we obtain from your account transactions in this decision-making process. To make you aware of the service or product we may contact you by mail, telephone, fax, e-mail or other reasonable method to give you further details so that you can make an informed choice. You are, of course, under no obligation to apply for any of the services or products offered. Telephone Calls

We may record telephone conversations to offer you additional security, resolve complaints and improve our service standards. Conversations may also be monitored for staff training purposes.
 

Use of Data - Web Site Visitors

When you visit our website, a certain amount of information is retained regarding the event to enable us to understand the profile of our visitors. The information retained includes the IP address and/or the domain name of the visitors. Cookies may be used to personalise your visit to this site.
